Under God's Thumb

Returning Home
And Off Again

Once out of the temple, our heroes made their way home without incident. They managed to sell their unneeded items and do a bit of digging for further information. It seems that more of the strange doll-people have been seen near a town called Dewer’s Bog, to the southeast, and another piece of the Eye has wound up there, or at least, that’s what it looks like.

After resupplying, they begin their trek to the southwest, toward the Water Temple and another piece of the Eye, passing a pair of Allosaurus with a recent kill, as well as taking out a band of Gnoll hunters.

Into The Dungeon
Battle for Ruin

Our intrepid heroes decided to head to the Ruin Temple first, by packing their horses and making the trek to a nearby town. Luckily, having bought a supply of animals, they were able to stave off a wyvern attack, though later they were caught off guard by an ogre and a band of hobgoblins.

However, they took down the troupe, and made their way further east, to Tansend. From there, they were able to catch a ferry and continue their journey. Upon finding the ruins on the northern coast, they headed into the depths, coming across a band of brigands who fell easily to their skill.

The temple shortly opened into a large colonnade, and a secret room to one side held what they sought, a supposed piece of the Eye. However, laying their hands on it summoned a ten-headed hydra. Through quick thinking and a laying of spells (not to mention a handy potion,) they were able to sever its heads and render it dead.

They left the body to disintegrate into nothing, headed back to recoup and continue their journey.

The Party Assembles
A Quest for the Eye

The Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Iron Man assemble when a call to arms is heard. Ranks of apparent humans attack the city, but nowhere near enough to actually breach.

As the battle rages, their demeanor suggests a lack of empathy or even knowledge of their surroundings- the brainwashed hoard is swept aside easily.

The adventurers consult a Seer, who reveals a prophecy that claims an artifact called the Eye of Demeter must be assembled to quell an upcoming disaster.

The colleagues depart to further their knowledge and discover the Eye is a metallic sphere which is somehow connected to the nine elements. The mage and cleric discover two leads that may be of some use, and upon returning to the seer, their hunch is confirmed; they are due to travel northwest, toward the abandoned quarters of what they refer to as the Cult of Ruin.
